Video hardware still essential for analogue video editing
Pinnacle Systems release 2 new USB video editing solutions based on the award-winning Studio 12 editing software.
MELBOURNE, VICTORIA – November 13, 2008 – Pinnacle Systems Inc., a part of Avid Technology, Inc. (Nasdaq: AVID) and Lako Pacific have released 2 video editing solutions based on the award-winning Studio editing software; the Studio MovieBox Plus and Studio MovieBox Ultimate for Australia and New Zealand. Both solutions are aimed at home users still using legacy camcorders and video players where there’s still a need for a device to interface with their PCs. The MovieBox Plus features analogue video inputs and FireWire, and is bundled with Pinnacle Studio 12 Plus; while MovieBox Ultimate provides both analogue video inputs and outputs, for recording back to tape, and includes a full version of Pinnacle Studio 12 Ultimate software.Hardware and Software included
The main benefit over standard consumer video editing software products with Pinnacle Studio MovieBox is it is a total video editing solution. It includes a “breakout box”, a desktop USB video capture device that simply plugs into a standard USB (2.0) port on the PC, and has composite video, S-Video and stereo audio (L & R) inputs. For the purposes of archiving, this allows the user to record video from analogue video devices such as video cassette recorders (VCR), analogue camcorders and DVD players to the PC. It also has IEEE1394 Firewire port for connecting and controlling DV camcorders and devices. The breakout box adds convenience by bringing all the video and audio connections to the desktop.
“Without a device like the MovieBox, end users would have no other way to digitise their old analogue video tapes, edit and archive them to DVD on their PCs,” say Peter Dudkowski, of Pinnacle Systems Australia.
Pinnacle Studio 12 Plus software
Pinnacle Studio 12 Plus controls the process of recording, editing and outputting a video project, all from one 3 step, easy-to-use application. From the software, users can set the file format from which their videos can be digitised into, add special effects such as transitions, titles, background music, voice-overs, still image slideshows, and provides simple tools for adjusting the video quality, colour correction and even reduce video noise from old movies. Studio offers a range of output options including direct uploaded to YouTube™, creating video files for playback on an iPod, PlayStation Portable and burning to DVD discs, with menus & chapters.
Version 12 also includes new features such as Montage™, for multi-tracking video effects. These template-driven effects offer 11 professionally designed themes for animated video collages such as Video Wall, Album and Seasons. This version also supports high definition videos recorded from the latest generation of video cameras including AVCHD and HDV.
The Ultimate version
Pinnacle Studio MovieBox Ultimate offers consumers the top-of-the-range Studio Ultimate video editing software, video output options in the USB breakout box and a green sheet backdrop for making your own “chroma-key” effects. For advanced editors, the Ultimate version includes software effects for creating professional looking movies from Magic Bullet Looks, ProDad© VitaScene and Boris Graffiti. The breakout box gives the user the added option to record back to analogue video tapes, with composite video, S-Video and stereo audio outputs.
